Favorite Green Smoothie

After all the holiday indulgences, my body is practically begging me for all the greens! Thankfully, I have my favorite go-to green smoothie. Not too sweet and full of nutrients. Not only do I feel better when I start my day with this smoothie, but long-term I’ve noticed I feel less bloated (hello, fiber!) and an overall improvement in my skin. What more could you really ask for from your breakfast?

After blending, you will notice the juice and pulp naturally start to separate as they sit. DO drink that pulp! It contains all the fiber. This fiber will keep you fuller longer and reduce bloat by keeping you regular. Stirring frequently as you drink this smoothie will keep the juice and pulp combined. Pro tip: if I notice a lot of pulp has stuck to the side of my glass bottle after I’ve finished the smoothie, I like to refill my bottle up with water, give it a shake and drink up that bright green water!

ingredients:

1 granny smith apple, cored and cut into quarters

1/2 cucumber

juice of 1/2 lemon

1 giant handful of baby spinach

1 giant handful of baby kale

1-4 fresh mint leaves

1/2 cup cubed ice

1/2 cup water (I’ve also been known to sub with my favorite coconut water)

*Optional: 1 scoop of unflavored Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

directions:

Combine all ingredients in a high powered blender (I typically add the ice and water last). Start on low speed working your way up to the highest speed. Additional water can be added to achieve your desired consistency. Blend until mixture is smooth and no chunks remain.

Pour, sip and reap the benefits!
